Introduction
English Language at the Primary 2 level is designed to develop pupils’ ability to listen, speak, read, write, and communicate effectively in simple English. At this stage, pupils build on the language skills acquired in Primary 1 by learning new words, forming simple sentences, reading short passages, understanding basic grammar, and expressing their thoughts clearly. The subject also helps pupils develop correct pronunciation, spelling, handwriting, vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence in everyday communication. Through stories, conversations, songs, poems, reading exercises, and writing activities, pupils are encouraged to use English appropriately in the home, school, and wider community.
