PRIMARY 6 - ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Introduction

English Language is an important subject in Primary 6 because it develops pupils’ ability to listen, speak, read, write, and communicate effectively. At this level, pupils build stronger vocabulary, improve their grammar, develop reading comprehension skills, and learn to express their ideas clearly in both spoken and written English.

General Objectives

By the end of Primary 6, pupils should be able to:

  1. Communicate effectively in English in everyday situations.
  2. Read and understand passages appropriate to their level.
  3. Identify and correctly use different parts of speech.
  4. Construct grammatically correct sentences.
  5. Improve their spelling, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
  6. Write clear paragraphs, letters, stories, essays, and other forms of composition.
  7. Apply correct punctuation and capitalization.
  8. Listen attentively and respond appropriately to questions and instructions.
  9. Identify the main ideas and supporting details in passages.
  10. Develop confidence in using English for academic and social communication.
