Introduction

Islamic Studies for Primary 6 introduces pupils to essential Islamic beliefs, acts of worship, moral values, the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), selected Qur’anic teachings, Hadith, and the history of Islam. The subject helps pupils develop good character, strengthen their faith, and practise Islamic teachings in their daily lives.

General Objectives

By the end of Primary 6, pupils should be able to:

  1. Explain the basic beliefs and practices of Islam.
  2. Recite and understand selected short Surahs of the Qur’an.
  3. Explain selected Hadith and apply their lessons.
  4. Describe important events in the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
  5. Demonstrate proper Islamic manners and moral behaviour.
  6. Explain the importance of Salah, Zakah, Sawm and other acts of worship.
  7. Identify the rights and responsibilities of Muslims in society.
  8. Appreciate honesty, kindness, patience, obedience and respect for others.
  9. Distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable behaviour according to Islam.
  10. Apply Islamic teachings in everyday life.
