
Introduction
Cultural and Creative Arts (CCA) for Primary 6 introduces pupils to the rich cultural heritage and creative practices of Nigeria and other societies. The subject combines Visual Arts, Music, Drama, Dance and Crafts. It encourages pupils to express their ideas creatively, appreciate Nigerian culture, develop practical skills and preserve valuable cultural traditions.
General Objectives
By the end of Primary 6, pupils should be able to:
- Explain the meaning and importance of Cultural and Creative Arts.
- Identify different Nigerian cultures, traditions and festivals.
- Identify and use basic elements and principles of art.
- Produce simple drawings, paintings and craft works.
- Identify different musical instruments and explain their uses.
- Sing Nigerian and traditional songs appropriately.
- Perform simple dances and dramatic activities.
- Explain the importance of drama and theatre in society.
- Demonstrate creativity and skill in making simple art and craft objects.
- Appreciate and respect Nigeria's cultural diversity and artistic heritage.
